The Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle»
The 12 hectares of land sourrounding Trauttmansdorff Castle are cultivated with a collection of plants from all over the world divided into 4 different sections: the Sun Gardens, Aquatic und Hanging Gardens, Forest Gardens und South Tyrolean Landscapes.
Petermann from Schenna built the castle in 1330, and in 1844 Archduke Johann acquired it.
Tyrol castle, whose first phase of construction goes back to the 11th century and from which the region around was governed until 1420 was of such importance that it gave its name to the country.
Bird Care Centre of Castle Tyrol»
Since 1989 the Birds Caring Centre near Castle Tyrol has been working successfully for bird protection by private venture. The aim of the centre is to treat injured, shot or poisoned birds and to release them into nature.
